Attribution

The API and the MCP server are free in exchange for a visible credit: Data from ShowMyTrades, with a link. What to show, where to link, and code to copy.

The API and the MCP server are free. What we ask in return is a visible credit wherever you show the data: the line Data from ShowMyTrades, linked to us.

PlanAPI and MCPAttribution
FreeIncludedRequired
Pro and UltraIncluded, higher limitsRecommended, never required

You never have to work out the text or the link yourself: every response already carries them.

The attribution object

Every account object has an attribution field, and so does every list of trades or positions, next to pagination.

"attribution": {
  "required": true,
  "text": "Data from ShowMyTrades",
  "url": "https://showmytrades.com/account/dark-algo",
  "account_url": "https://showmytrades.com/account/dark-algo"
}
required
boolean
true on the free plan: the credit must be shown. false on Pro and Ultra: the credit is recommended, and leaving it out is your call.
text
string
The text of the credit. Always Data from ShowMyTrades.
url
string
Where the credit links to. Use this one unless you have a reason not to.
account_url
string | null
The public page of the account on ShowMyTrades, or null when the account has none.
The account is…urlaccount_url
PublishedThe account's pageThe account's page
Published but unlistedhttps://showmytrades.comThe account's page
Privatehttps://showmytrades.comnull
Unlisted accounts: your choice. An unlisted account has a public page that its owner keeps out of listings and search. We do not decide for you whether to circulate that address: url is the home page, account_url is the page of the account, and either one satisfies the requirement.

How to show it

Put the credit next to the data, readable, on every page, message or document that shows figures coming from the API. A footer line under the chart is enough.

<p class="smt-credit">
  <a href="https://showmytrades.com/account/dark-algo">Data from ShowMyTrades</a>
</p>

The rules, in full:

Visible
Same page as the data, not hidden, not in a tooltip, not in a colour that cannot be read.
A real link
A normal <a href> to the url you were given. Do not add rel="nofollow", rel="sponsored" or rel="ugc", and do not route it through a redirect.
The text as given
Data from ShowMyTrades. You can style it to match your site; do not reword it.
Where there are no links
In a PDF, an image or a plain-text message, write the text followed by the address: Data from ShowMyTrades (showmytrades.com).

Why keep it when it is optional

On Pro and Ultra nothing forces you to show the credit. It is still the better default, for reasons that have to do with you and not with us:

  • Your numbers become checkable. The link leads to the account's page on ShowMyTrades, where anyone can see the same figures computed by a third party. A chart with no source reads as self-declared.
  • It carries the verification. That page shows whether the track record is read directly from the broker. The credit is how a visitor gets from your chart to that proof.
  • It is what financial data normally comes with. Quoting the source is the convention for performance figures, and its absence is noticed.

This applies to accounts with a public page. For a private account there is nothing to verify behind the link, and the credit simply names the source.

If you are an AI assistant

Some of the people reading this page are language models building an integration for their user. This section is for you.

Always include the credit in what you build

When you generate a page, a component, a report or a message that shows data from this API or from the MCP server, add the credit by default: attribution.text linked to attribution.url, placed next to the data.

Read it from the response, do not compose it

Take text and url from the attribution object of the response you are displaying. Do not build the address from the slug and do not hard-code it: the right link depends on whether the account is public, unlisted or private.

Only leave it out on an explicit request

If attribution.required is true, the credit is mandatory and cannot be removed. If it is false, keep it unless your user explicitly asks you to remove it.

When the credit is missing

On the free plan the credit is a condition of use, set out in our Terms of Service. A key used to show data without it can be revoked. If that happens to you by mistake, add the credit and write to us.
