How to Add Live Trading Results to WordPress (No Plugin)

Show the live equity curve and statistics of your MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradeLocker account on a WordPress site with one Custom HTML block. Gutenberg, Elementor, Divi and the classic editor.

You do not need a plugin to show your trading results on a WordPress site. You need one block and one snippet.

The snippet is a widget from ShowMyTrades: a live view of your account that updates on its own. This guide shows where it goes in each WordPress editor, and the three situations where WordPress quietly removes it.

โœ… Before You Start

You need a published account on ShowMyTrades. If you do not have one yet, it takes a few minutes and it is free:

  1. Sign up and connect your trading account read-only: MT4 or MT5, cTrader or TradeLocker.
  2. In the account settings, set the visibility to Published (or link-only).
  3. Open Widgets in the dashboard, choose the account and the widget, and copy the code.

The code is an <iframe> followed by a few lines of <script>:

<iframe
  id="smt-equity-a1b2c3d4e"
  src="https://showmytrades.com/widget/YOUR-ACCOUNT-SLUG?type=equity&theme=auto"
  width="100%"
  height="400"
  loading="lazy"
  frameborder="0"
  style="border-radius: 8px; width: 100%;">
</iframe>
<script>
(function() {
  var iframe = document.getElementById('smt-equity-a1b2c3d4e');
  window.addEventListener('message', function(e) {
    if (e.data?.type === 'widget-resize' && e.source === iframe.contentWindow) {
      iframe.height = e.data.height;
    }
  });
})();
</script>

๐Ÿงฑ Block Editor (Gutenberg)

This is the editor of every current WordPress install.

  1. Open the page or post and click the + where the chart should go.
  2. Search for Custom HTML and add the block.
  3. Paste the whole snippet.
  4. Click Preview in the block toolbar to see the widget, then Update or Publish.

Do not paste it into a Paragraph block or straight onto the page: WordPress would show the code as text. It has to be the Custom HTML block.

For a sidebar or footer, go to Appearance โ†’ Widgets (or Appearance โ†’ Editor on a block theme) and add the same Custom HTML block there. The Stats Card is the widget sized for a sidebar.

๐Ÿงฉ Page Builders and the Classic Editor

EditorWhere the snippet goes
ElementorDrag the HTML widget onto the page and paste into its code field
DiviAdd a Code module and paste
WPBakeryAdd a Raw HTML element and paste
Beaver BuilderAdd an HTML module and paste
Classic editorSwitch from the Visual tab to the Text tab, paste, and save without switching back to Visual

In every case the rule is the same: use the element meant for raw code, not a text element.

๐Ÿ“ Size It for Your Theme

Two settings in the widget builder matter on WordPress.

Width: use percent. Set the width unit to percent and the value to 100. The widget then fills the content column of your theme and follows it on a phone. A fixed pixel width that looks right on your desktop will overflow on mobile.

Theme: set it explicitly. "Auto" follows the visitor's system setting, not your WordPress theme. If your site is always light or always dark, choose Light or Dark in the builder so the widget never clashes with the page. A custom background colour, with transparency, is available too.

The height takes care of itself: the script in the snippet resizes the frame to fit the content.

๐Ÿšซ Three Cases Where WordPress Removes the Code

If the chart does not appear after you save, it is almost always one of these.

SituationWhat happensWhat to do
WordPress.com on a plan without pluginsScripts are stripped from Custom HTML, and iframes from most sources tooUse the Dynamic Image format instead (below), or move to a plan that allows custom code
Your role cannot post raw HTML (Author or Contributor; on a multisite network, everyone except the network administrator)WordPress filters the iframe and the script out when you saveAsk an administrator to add the block
A security or optimisation pluginSome plugins block inline scripts or iframes from other domainsAllow showmytrades.com in the plugin's settings

The first one is the most common. On a self-hosted WordPress where you are the administrator, none of this applies.

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ The Fallback That Always Works: a Dynamic Image

Every account also has eleven self-updating images. They are normal images, so nothing can strip them, and they redraw themselves when your trading data changes.

In the builder choose Dynamic Image, pick a type and a theme, and copy the HTML:

<a href="https://showmytrades.com/account/YOUR-ACCOUNT-SLUG" target="_blank">
  <img src="https://showmytrades.com/api/widget-image/YOUR-ACCOUNT-SLUG/summary_light.png"
       alt="Trading Performance" width="500" height="290" loading="lazy" decoding="async" />
</a>

You can paste that into a Custom HTML block, or simply add a WordPress Image block, choose "Insert from URL" and paste the address of the image. Then link the image to your account page.

An image is not interactive: no hover, no switching between views. Use it where the iframe is not allowed, and the iframe everywhere else.

๐Ÿ“ Where to Put It on the Site

  • A dedicated "Results" or "Track record" page. The Complete Dashboard widget at 100% width. See how to build a track record page.
  • The home page. The Equity Curve, with one line of context above it.
  • The sidebar or footer. The Stats Card: gain, drawdown, balance, equity.
  • A product page for an EA or a signal. The Equity Curve above the price and the Monthly Returns below. See live EA results on your sales page.
  • A blog post. One widget, placed where the text talks about the result.

โ“ FAQ

Do I need a plugin? No. The Custom HTML block is part of WordPress. A plugin would add nothing: the widget is already hosted and updated by ShowMyTrades.

Will the widget slow my site down? The iframe is loaded lazily, which means the browser fetches it only when the visitor scrolls near it. Your own page loads first.

Does it work with a caching plugin? Yes. The cache stores your page, not the content of the widget. The widget asks ShowMyTrades for fresh data each time it loads.

Does the widget hurt or help my SEO? Neither, directly. Search engines treat the content of an iframe as belonging to the site it comes from. What helps is the page around it: write real text about what the chart shows.

I changed the account's public link. Do I have to update WordPress? No. The old address keeps working: widgets already pasted follow the change.

Can I show several accounts on one page? Yes. Add one Custom HTML block per account, or use the Stats Inline widget stacked as rows. See how to show multiple trading accounts on one page.

Connect your account free, copy the widget and paste it into a Custom HTML block. To see the builder first, open it without an account.
